Samuel Scherling

Chief Executive Officer

Samuel Scherling co-founded PG3 AG in March 2013. He has managed Partners Group’s ILS portfolio since early 2008. Prior to that, he was head of P&C Risk Models & Metrics and deputy head of P&C Risk Management at Swiss Re (which he joined in 1991) and responsible for modeling all of Swiss Re’s non-life risks with CHF 18bn in premium and CHF 70bn in reserves.

He was a founding member of Swiss Re’s Alternative Asset Re unit and Managing Director responsible for the modeling and underwriting of Swiss Re’s structured private equity transactions.

In 2000 he was voted “Researcher/Analyst of the Year” by the Review Worldwide Reinsurance Magazine. He holds a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Berne.

Stephan Müller

Chief Investment Officer

Stephan Müller joined the PG3 AG team in August 2016 as a Portfolio Manager, primarily responsible for strategic asset allocation and certain hedge fund strategies. Prior to that he was a portfolio manager for alternative investment strategies at GAM Capital Management Ltd and Alternative Beta Partners AG.

Prior to that, he was a member of the alternative beta strategies with Partners Group AG. He began his career as an analyst at Vescore Solutions AG. 

Stephan Müller holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Hagen, a master’s degree in Economics from the University of St. Gallen, as well as a doctorate from the department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of St. Gallen.

Dr. Stephan Müller joined the PG3 AG team in August 2016 as a Portfolio Manager, primarily responsible for strategic asset allocation and certain hedge fund strategies. Prior to that he was a portfolio manager for alternative investment strategies at GAM Capital Management Ltd and Alternative Beta Partners AG.

Prior to that, he was a member of the alternative beta strategies with Partners Group AG. He began his career as an analyst at Vescore Solutions AG. 

Dr. Stephan Müller holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Hagen, a master’s degree in Economics from the University of St. Gallen, as well as a doctorate from the department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of St. Gallen.

Curdin Conrad

Curdin Conrad joined the PG3 AG team in June 2015 as Head Legal and Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining PG3 AG he practiced as a lawyer in his own law firm in Gossau Switzerland for 14 years. He practiced in different areas such as contract law, tort law, corporate law, insurance law, bankruptcy and criminal law. Prior to that he was head of the legal department of a legal costs insurance. He holds a master’s degree in law from the University of St. Gallen.

Curdin Conrad joined the PG3 AG team in June 2015 as Head Legal and Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining PG3 AG he practiced as a lawyer in his own law firm in Gossau Switzerland for 14 years. Santiago Corral joined PG3 AG in October 2022 as the Head of Life Run-off Insurance. He founded Nazare Capital in 2015 together with Murray Wood, where they have led proprietary investments in Life Run-off insurance alongside leading private equity, and hedge fund investors. 

Prior to that he was Managing Partner of Ember Capital LLP, as spin off of Nomura’s alternative investments in Europe. He was a founding sponsor of Catalina Holdings, a leader in the acquisition, management and consolidation of non-life insurance and reinsurance risks. He has advised leading private equity, hedge funds and sovereign fund investors on their proprietary investments in insurance over the past fifteen years. Santiago Corral previously held senior positions at Nomura, CapVest Private Equity, and Bankers Trust.

Stephen Otter joined the PG3 AG team in July 2021. Previously, he worked at FlowStream Commodities, a KKR backed oil and gas royalty & streaming company, where as Head of Business Development, he was responsible for originating and executing royalty & streaming transactions globally. Prior to his role at FlowStream, Stephen spent close to a decade in Investment Banking in London where he was focused on M&A and capital raising. Stephen graduated with first class honours in Economics from the London School of Economics.

Ji In Kim joined the PG3 AG team in April 2020 as the Executive Assistant to the CEO and became the Head of Operations in January 2022. Prior to joining PG3, she spent six years working as the Business Support Manager at Klick Health, a digital healthcare marketing agency in Toronto, Canada, reporting to the CTO and the Partner. Prior to that she worked for six years as the Economic Affairs Officer and Cultural Affairs Officer at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto. She holds a Bachelor’s degree of double majors in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Toronto.

Ji In Kim joined the PG3 AG team in April 2020 as the Executive Assistant to the CEO and became the Head of Operations in January 2022. Prior to joining PG3, she spent six years working as the Business Support Manager at Klick Health, a digital healthcare marketing agency in Toronto, Canada, reporting to the CTO and the Partner. Philippe Weiss joined the PG3 team in January 2023 as designated CFO. He is an experienced finance expert in the pharmaceutical and financial industries. In 2009, he joined Partners Group, where he served as the Global Head of Accounting for numerous years, subsequently taking on the role of Global Head of Shared Services. He holds a Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance and Accounting and a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Controlling.

Philippe Weiss joined the PG3 team in January 2023 as designated CFO. He is an experienced finance expert in the pharmaceutical and financial industries. In 2009, he joined Partners Group, where he served as the Global Head of Accounting for numerous years, subsequently taking on the role of Global Head of Shared Services. He holds a Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance and Accounting and a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Controlling.

Jan Mühlemann is responsible for the Marketing activities and the Client Relationship Management at PG3 AG and has been in this role since 2018. He also supports the Portfolio Managers in sourcing new investment opportunities. Prior to joining PG3 AG, he worked for 7 years at Partners Group AG in the European Client Solutions Team.

Jan Mühlemann is responsible for the marketing activities and the client relationship management at PG3 AG since 2018. He also supports the portfolio managers in sourcing new investment opportunities. Prior to joining PG3 AG, he worked for 7 years at Partners Group AG in the European Client Solutions Team.
